PPL(A) WITH CR SEP(LAND)

Become single-engine private pilot or take the first step towards an airline pilot

The Private Pilot Licence PPL(A) with an endorsed Class Rating single-engine piston-powered aircraft SEP(Land) is aimed to anyone who

  • want to enjoy piloting a single-engine aircraft (like our Cessna 172) in good weather in free time
  • also plans to fly in restricted visibility in the future
  • is considering extending their PPL(A) licence with an Instrument Rating or Multi Engine Rating
  • is considering a career as an airline pilot
  • is considering flying in non-EASA* countries

With the Private Pilot Licence PPL(A) in combination with Class single-engine piston-powered aircraft SEP(Land), you are allowed to fly SEP(Land) aircraft with no restriction on maximum take-off weight and number of seats. If you are considering more than purely flying for fun, the PPL(A) is the recommended entry into the world of flying. It offers you more extension options than the Light Aircraft Pilot License LAPL(A). The PPL(A) is not only the first step for further commercial pilot licences, but also the basis for private flying in more demanding weather conditions, since you can add an instrument rating extension to you PPL(A).

Unlike the LAPL(A), which can only be upgraded with ratings for visual night flying, aerobatics and glider and banner towing, it is possible to upgrade the PPL(A) additional with ratings for instrument flying and flying multi-engine aircraft. The PPL(A) is the starting point for the Commercial Pilot License CPL(A). The PPL(A) is also valid outside EASA affiliated countries*, which is not the case with the LAPL(A).

To train the student pilot to obtain a LAPL(A) licence to fly

To train student pilots to obtain a PPL(A) licence to fly

  • as Pilot in Command (PIC)
  • on non-commercial flights
  • under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) in day conditions
  • on single-engine piston aeroplanes (Land)
  • by applying radio telephony in English

There are no requirements that need to be met before you can begin your training. But before we can allow you to take your first solo flight, you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • have a current EASA Medical Certificate class 2 or higher
  • hold a current Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate

Before you can make an application for PPL(A) license, you must be at least 17 years of age.

  • 100 hours Theory (90 hours web-based remote learning + 10 hours in classroom at our Graz-based training facility).
  • 45 hours Flight Training including 10 hours Solo Flying
